Often we find systems that have wiring issues. We also can help here. We have experience and training in how to inspect the wiring system, (everything from the controller to solenoids and valves) so that we provide the best services and repairs for you.

Sprinkler Adjustment

We recommend that you have your sprinkler system adjusted a couple of months into running it, every year. It is very common that a sprinkler system gets a bit out of alignment after it has been running for a while. This can happen if the lawn mower knocks a sprinkler out of place, someone steps on it, or the water pressure sometimes changes the alignment.

When we do the sprinkler adjustment, we adjust all your sprinklers to have an optimal spray pattern to cover your whole yard, if possible, but at the same time, making sure that everything is getting enough water to stay green. When we adjust the sprinklers, we will also go over the settings on the controller to make sure that everything is activated correctly and spraying in good intervals.

Backflow

Backflow devices are required to be installed on all sprinkler systems. It prevents water from the sprinkler lines from flowing back into the house water lines, getting mixed up with the drinking water. It is therefore important that the backflow is installed correctly and is working properly. Here at Arvada Handyman, we can repair and replace your backflow if it doesn’t work the way that it should.

Frost damage over the winter is a common issue for backflows. The way to prevent this from happening is by blowing out your system at the end of the Summer/early Fall. If this has not been done, the backflow normally cracks throughout the winter, and then when you turn on your sprinklers in the spring time, water will be leaking or even spraying out of the backflow. This is where we come in to help fix what’s broken. In some cases it is the internals that are broken, so we can repair the backflow. In other cases, you will need a new backflow, and we can come and install that for you.

Winter Blowout

It is really important to do a blowout on your sprinkler system before the winter comes. If this is not done, you can expect to have a lot of bursting pipes, sprinkler heads, and backflows, which will all need to be replaced the following year. This will end up being a very expensive fix that can be prevented with getting a blowout.

We always recommend getting a professional to do the blowout. First, to make sure it is done correctly, but also because normal garage compressors do not have enough CFM (volume of air flow) to blow out a system. What ends up happening is that the system does not completely get emptied of water, which can end in frost damages. Normal garage compressors have 7-20 CFM (volume of air flow), where the professional ones will put out 80-180 CFM (volume of air flow).

Unfortunately, we can not offer sprinkler blowouts this year.
